Stewart: My Only Secret Meeting Was With Fox News Boss Roger Ailes (VIDEO)

“The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart debunked reports on Wednesday night that he took secret meetings with President Barack Obama but revealed his only secret meeting of his tenure: Fox News president Roger Ailes.

Politico reported on Wednesday that Stewart had been “summoned” for secret meetings at the White House — twice. The meetings, however, were on the public visitor logs.

“Something is not a secret just because you don’t know about it,” Stewart said.

Stewart revealed he did have one “secret” meeting — with the head of Fox News back in 2010 after appearing on “The O’Reilly Factor.” It’s a meeting, Stewart said, Ailes would deny even took place.

“In my entire tenure here of being yelled at by some very influential and powerful individuals and Billy Joel, only with one of those people has a phone call ever ended with, ‘This conversation never happened and if you say it did, I will deny it,’ ” Stewart said while a picture of Ailes appeared. “And it wasn’t the fucking President.”

So, what really happened with Stewart’s meetings at the White House?

“The President asked me to come to Washington. And I did,” Stewart said. “Because if the President tells you and you don’t, who the fuck knows what would happen? To all future Presidents, if you ask me to come to Washington, I will do that because I have no idea how to react other than, ‘What time?’ “

  1. Just when you thought Fox News couldn’t get any dumber, they up the ante.

  2. Politico is a big problem. Not sure if their lies are purposeful or if the stories are merely clickbait.
I do like how Stewart debunked that story and how he called Ailes out. A shame how Politico missed that one.

  3. I love Jon, He will be missed but I know he’s going to do good things and he is an animal lover and that makes him A-OK in my book.

  4. If I’d met Roger Ailes, publicly or secretly I’d hafta bathe in bleach.
@chammy I’m on board with the animal treatment thing as well.

  5. Classic! This really shows up Howard Kurtz, who went from being a “media critic” to a Fox News bootlicker.
