Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson, whose firefighter dad died in 9/11, called out comedian Steve Rannazzisi on Wednesday on Twitter for repeatedly telling a phony story about escaping the terror attack.
Davidson, who honored his father on social media during the anniversary of 9/11 this year, tweeted his thoughts to Rannazzisi after The New York Times revealed that his fellow comedian had been lying.
It’s ok @SteveRannazzisi people make mistakes … Can’t wait to meet my dad for lunch later

Rannazzisi replied, thanking him, but later deleted the tweet. Davidson retweeted it, and said he was missing the point.
Davidson then turned to a serious note.
All kidding aside this @SteveRannazzisi story sucks because he’s actually a funny comic and I love The League. It’s fucked up

Edit: (In the classic SNL style) Never mind.
I get the guy being pissed, but I’ not sure I get why you shit all over someone for apologizing.
Fame has such a low bar nowadays…
I thought the story indicated that he didn’t apologize until he had told the lie for many years, and apologized only after someone else exposed the lie. That would probably justify someone shitting on him for the awful thing he did.
Personally, I suspect waiting for someone to expose him probably took its own toll on him during those years. Whether that was enough suffering is for someone besides me to decide.
Stupidity is marketable …
