Stephen Colbert continued his coverage of the 2016 presidential election by paying his respect to the latest two fallen tributes in the Hungry For Power Games on Monday’s “Late Show.”
The recurring segment is based off the incredibly successful novels by Suzanne Collins and movie franchise. Colbert adopts his own version of of Hunger Games host Caesar Flickerman.
“And just last week, the Democrats’ bald patch got even patchier,” Colbert said.
Colbert paid tribute to the fallen tributes of former Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee, hailing from District Horsey, and former Sen. Jim Webb (VA), from District Grumpy.
“This means at peak Chafee, out of 100 people, he had the support of one guy — from the waist up,” Colbert said.
“Yes, Jim Webb is withdrawing from consideration. I’m sure that will come as a disappointment to his supporter,” Colbert said.

I am terrible with today’s pop culture (or at least most of it). I have not read the ‘Hunger Games’ books nor watched the movies. Are they really all that good? From what I’ve seen (read and heard) from articles such as this one, they pretty much are a sad example of what humanity can/will become when our natural resources really do go past that tipping point. Survival, etc., and what we’re willing to do to “survive,” no matter how or if happiness plays a role. Obviously, politics plays a heavy role. Does that sound about right?
No, the books are not that. It is young-adult post-apocalyptic romance/adventure/thriller. Not bad really, and commendable for having a female protagonist.
Ahh, thank you. I will be picking up some new books this Holiday Season, so I just might pick up the first one in this series to read. Winter days are always much nicer with good books.
