There’s little reason to doubt that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would make a strong presidential candidate if she decided to run again in 2016, 2008 Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said on Monday.

“I don’t think there’s any doubt that Secretary Clinton would be a very strong candidate,” McCain said at the City Club of Chicago according to Bloomberg News. “I don’t think there’s any doubt she has widespread support. Her work as secretary of state, with the exception of this issue of Benghazi, —which isn’t going away— I think has been outstanding. I think she would be viewed by anyone, Republican or Democrat, as a very formidable candidate in 2016.”

McCain went on to praise Vice President Joe Biden who is also rumored to be considering running for president in 2016. The senator from Arizona called Biden a “wonderful guy” adding that it’s important not to “rule Joe Biden out of this mix” concerning potential 2016 presidential candidates.
