Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius testified Wednesday that the Obama administration has no reliable data about how many people have enrolled in health coverage through HealthCare.gov.

“We have no reliable data about enrollment, which is why we haven’t given it to date,” Sebelius said in response to a question from Rep. Lee Terry (R-NE) at the House Energy and Commerce Committee hearing.

Sebelius added that the website’s problems have prevented HHS from collecting reliable data. She said enrollment data would be available in mid-November.

The administration has refused to answer reporter questions about how many people have actually enrolled in coverage, the last step in obtaining insurance. They have released information on how many applications have been completed. The most recent figure is 700,000.
