Ex-Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown is set to endorse Republican Donald Trump’s presidential campaign Tuesday night in New Hampshire, the Washington Post first reported.

Brown ran an unsuccessful New Hampshire Senate campaign in 2014. An ABC News reporter also confirmed the impending endorsement with the Trump campaign.

The endorsement could provide a well-timed boost for Trump, who finished second to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in Monday’s Iowa caucuses. Brown’s endorsement would also make him the first U.S. senator – current or former – to endorse Trump, the Post noted.

Brown rose to notoriety for his underdog victory in the 2010 special election to fill Sen. Ted Kennedy’s seat.
