Rep. Mark Sanford (R-SC) is working on his own Obamacare replacement plan that the House Freedom Caucus will be considering in the days to come, Rep. Mark Meadows (R-NC), the chair of the conservative group, told reporters Tuesday.

Sanford’s plan will be similar to Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-KY) Affordable Care Act alternative, according Meadows, and the House Freedom Caucus will at some point, likely next week, weigh taking a position on Sanford’s plan and the other proposals circulating.

“We are trying to get the information out to all our members to get their opinions,” Meadows said, noting that, due to the caucus’ bylaws, the plans will need to meet an 80-percent threshold of support before the House Freedom Caucus officially takes a position on them.

“They’re favorably disposed towards Dr. Paul’s plan. Governor Sanford is introducing a plan that would take a lot of [those] components with a few modifications, and that’s really the one that we’re going to probably focus on more so than anything else, to at least determine whether we support it or don’t,” Meadows said.

Details have been scant on exactly what replacement measures the Congressional GOP leadership intends to include in the legislation that will repeal the Affordable Care Act. So far, there hasn’t been consensus around Paul’s plan, which currently has no cosponsors, nor around the health care legislation offered by Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME). The Republican Study Committee, another group of House conservatives, has also released an Obamacare replacement plan.
