In the face of a wave of Republicans who disavowed their endorsements of Donald Trump, the GOP nominee’s former rival Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) stood by him in a statement released Tuesday.
Rubio said that although he does not agree with Trump on many things, he still feels electing Trump would be better than electing Hillary Clinton.
“I wish we had better choices for President,” Rubio said in the statement, according to The Miami Herald. “But I do not want Hillary Clinton to be our next President. And therefore my position has not changed.”
Rubio, who’s running for re-election to his Senate seat, had previously condemned the remarks Trump made about kissing and grabbing women without their consent in a leaked 2005 “Access Hollywood” recording:
Donald’s comments were vulgar, egregious & impossible to justify.
No one should ever talk about any woman in those terms, even in private.— Marco Rubio (@marcorubio) October 8, 2016

I ran against Donald Trump. And while I respect that voters chose him as the GOP nominee, I have never hesitated to oppose his policies I disagree with. And I have consistently rejected his offensive rhetoric and behavior. I disagree with him on many things, but I disagree with his opponent on virtually everything.
I wish we had better choices for President. But I do not want Hillary Clinton to be our next President. And therefore my position has not changed.
What a wimp. He can’t even ‘man up’ enough to protect his women constituents. Hillary is SATAN therefore I leave you in the hands of a short fingered vulgarian. Yep.
Rubio: Donald’s comments were vulgar, egregious & impossible to justify. {But I’ll try my best.}
Marco Rubio is an attorney…ask him now
Gutless wonder.
That’s… AWESOME!!! Thanks little Marco.
Now we can count on winning Florida AND kicking your worthless ass to the curb. Good times.
