A Macon, Ga. man was charged with second degree murder on Friday in connection with the fatal shooting of a 17-month-old baby boy the day before.
Authorities upgraded Ronnie Howard’s original charge from reckless conduct to second degree murder, local station WMAZ reported. He is also charged with second degree cruelty to children.
Howard, the boyfriend of the child’s mother, was reportedly cleaning a gun and accidentally shot the baby in the face.
The suspect accompanied the mother as she rushed the baby to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to WMAZ.
