Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) called for the “Stop Trump” movement to come to a close and for Republicans to unite behind his Donald Trump’s candidacy on Wednesday, after the GOP frontrunner swept in primaries in five Northeastern states.

“It is time for the ‘Stop Trump’ movement to end. Yesterday’s election results show that the anti-Trump efforts didn’t work,” Scott wrote on his Facebook page. “Republicans now need to come together. Donald Trump is going to be our nominee, and he is going to be on the ballot as the Republican candidate for President.”

Scott wrote that while GOP leaders in Washington didn’t select Trump, Republican voters did and the party should therefore unite around him in order to defeat Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton in the general election.

“If the anti-Trump groups don’t stop now, their efforts will be nothing more than a contribution to the Clinton campaign,” he wrote.
