Apparently, one of the benefits of being a friend to Fox News host Sean Hannity is being able to hitch rides on his private jet.
When former House Speaker Newt Gingrich departed for Indiana Wednesday morning to meet with Donald Trump, Hannity arranged Gingrich’s early-morning flight, two anonymous sources privy to the situation told CNN.
Fox News had suspended its contributor contract with Gingrich Tuesday in response to concerns that the network could not report objectively on the possibility of Gingrich becoming Trump’s running mate.
Trump had been in Indiana meeting with the state’s Republican governor, Mike Pence, who is also being vetted as a potential running mate.
Hannity has a horse in that race, so to speak, as he publicly expressed his support for Gingrich as a potential vice presidential pick on his show Tuesday night.
“I wouldn’t be happy with anyone but Newt,” he said.
A spokeswoman for Fox News didn’t immediately respond Wednesday afternoon to TPM’s request for comment.
