Reddit CEO Steps Down Amid Disagreements Over New Office

Reddit CEO Yishan Wong resigned last week due to apparently irreconcilable differences with the company’s board over a new office space.

“To be clear, though, we didn’t ask or suggest that he resign—he decided to when we didn’t approve the new office plan,” Reddit adviser Sam Altman said in a blog post.

Altman said Wong’s disagreements pertained to the office’s “location and amount of money to spend on a lease.”

Ellen Pao, a strategist at Reddit, will now serve as CEO of the online message board.

  1. The hell? That’s a pretty cushy/high profile media job to junk. Wong must have either been otherwise dissatisfied or have had plenty of alternate job offers to stroll out over an office lease.
