A Spirit Lake, Idaho city councilman is facing misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure and battery after an incident outside a local restaurant, NBC affiliate KHQ reported on Monday.

Court documents indicate that City Council Member James “Jimmy” Brown allegedly had a physical confrontation with Spirit Lake resident Eric Vangemert, and also exposed himself to Vangemert’s wife and said “this is what a real man looks like.”

The incident occurred outside Joe’s Hole, a Spirit Lake tavern and grill, according to KHQ. And court documents indicate that Brown later asked Spirit Lake Police Chief Gene Marquez if he was “exempt from the law because I’m a city council member.”

Brown has denied getting physical with Vangemert, and pleaded not guilty to both charges.
