Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) hasn’t endorsed Donald Trump and after a tape surfaced over the weekend showing Trump talking about grabbing women’s genitals, it’s not clear he ever will.
“As you may recall, unlike many of my colleagues, I made it clear back in May way back when Donald Trump emerged as the likely nominee that I had serious reservations and serious concerns. I still do,” Toomey told reporters following a breakfast event Tuesday, according to the Washington Examiner. “I remain unpersuaded. I have been outspoken about the specific concerns that I had, and I’ll continue to speak out when I think it’s appropriate.”
Unlike a host of senators over the weekend who unendorsed Trump or declared they would never vote for him, Toomey kept a lower profile.
On Tuesday, the Examiner reported that Toomey said “we have two terrible choices, and I think many Pennsylvanians view it this way.”
“This is not, ultimately, a referendum on anyone. It’s a choice. It’s a bad choice, and I still remain unpersuaded,” Toomey said.
