WATCH: Obama Calls Plaintiff In Same-Sex Marriage Case

After the Supreme Court on Friday ruled that same-sex couple have the right to marry, President Obama called Jim Obergefell, the plaintiff in the case.

“Your leadership on this has changed the country,” Obama told Obergefell over the phone, a moment captured on air on CNN. “I couldn’t be prouder of you and your husband.”

Obergefell thanked Obama for his support for the LGBT community and seemed shocked when he hung up the phone.

“I can’t even put it into words. It’s stunning,” he said when asked about the phone call. “To have the President say something like that to me is not something I ever dreamed of.”
