Union City Mayor Brian Stack (pictured, right) cast doubt about Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer’s (D) accusation that aides to New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) held hostage Hurricane Sandy relief aid in exchange for moving a real estate project.
“I just think the story is far-fetched,” Stack, a Democrat, said in an interview with CNN’s The Lead on Tuesday. “My relationship with the governor and his staff and this administration has been one of the best.”
Stack’s comments come as Zimmer revealed two letters which she said proves that Christie’s aides threatened withholding relief aide for Hoboken.
Stack added that in his experience he’s never seen “strong-arm tactics” from Christie’s office.
“I’ve never had strong-arm tactics, in fact, they’ve gone out of their way to be helpful,” Stack said.
