After a video in which Milo Yiannopoulos appears to condone pedophilia resurfaced over the weekend, publisher Simon and Schuster pulled its deal to publish Yiannopoulos’ book “Dangerous.”

The announcement from Simon and Schuster followed a statement from the conservative conference CPAC announcing that Yiannopoulos had been disinvited from speaking at the conference, citing “the revelation of an offensive video in the past 24 hours condoning pedophilia.”

Yiannopoulos, a leader of the “alt-right” white nationalist movement and editor at Breitbart News, appears in a video criticizing the “arbitrary and oppressive idea of consent.” He also said that relationships between 13-year-olds and adults can occur “perfectly consensually.”

Following outcry over the video resurfaced by conservative site The Reagan Battalion, Yiannopoulos apologized and tried to clarify his remarks.

“I would like to restate my utter disgust at adults who sexually abuse minors. I am horrified by pedophilia and I have devoted large portions of my career as a journalist to exposing child abusers,” he said in a statement posted to Facebook.

He said he was “partly to blame” for the controversy over his comments.

“My own experiences as a victim led me to believe I could say anything I wanted to on this subject, no matter how outrageous. But I understand that my usual blend of British sarcasm, provocation and gallows humor might have come across as flippancy, a lack of care for other victims or, worse, ‘advocacy.’ I deeply regret that. People deal with things from their past in different ways,” he said.

  1. It just reinforces the old statement that a Conservative can get away with ANYTHING except;
    “Getting caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy.”
    of some iteration of that.

    Now, remember, the Publisher has “pulled” the publishing deal for the book, not canceled it, and in 4 weeks when the noise has died down they will quietly reinstate it and resurrect the publishing deal again (with less compensation for Milo.)

    After all, he is “one of them” and “business is business”.

  2. We already know that a conservative can get away with having a live girl put him in diapers, for money. Perhaps before long we can find out whether the leader of the free world can be caught with a live girl golden showers show.
    My guess is that if they didn’t piss on him, conservatives will have no problem at all.

  3. But still our Dear Leader’s past remark reported by Richard Cohen (and initially censored by the WaPo) didn’t create the slightest ripple. Remember: “Is it wrong if I’m more sexually attracted to my daughter than my wife?”, stated when Ivanka was, yes, 13? Maybe pedophilia is cool for Republicans when incest is involved. Or maybe it’s another case of “If the president does it it’s legal.” Of course he wasn’t president at the time he said it, but still.

    Milo’s remarks had been around for a while before they suddenly became unacceptable. I think Trump’s deep question about Ivanka should be revived too.
