If you were a bit confused by Mike Huckabee’s now-infamous remark Thursday at the Republican National Committee’s winter meeting, rest assured: so was the RNC’s own chairman.
Reince Priebus said that he isn’t sure what Huckabee was talking about when he went off on women and their libidos, according to the Washington Post’s Nia-Malika Henderson.
“I don’t know what he was talking about. Sort of a goofy way of using some phrases,” the RNC chairman said, adding that he would have phrased it differently.
Huckabee blasted Democrats for making women believe “that they are helpless without Uncle Sugar coming in and providing for them a prescription each month for birth control because they cannot control their libido.”
Despite the uproar that followed his speech, Huckabee is hardly apologetic. In fact, he’s trying to raise money off the remark.
Priebus, for his part, has expressed plenty of admiration for Huckabee in the past. It was just last year when Priebus said that the former Arkansas governor could be a “model” for the GOP.
