Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) on Sunday said that President Donald Trump’s administration was likely “partially to blame” for the recent chemical attack in Syria.

During CBS’ “Face the Nation,” host John Dickerson noted that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said before the chemical attack that the Syrian people would decide the fate of leader Bashar al-Assad. Dickerson asked if this rhetoric encouraged the chemical attack at all.

“I think it probably was partially to blame,” McCain replied. “And Secretary Tillerson basically saying the same thing after kind of contradicting himself and then saying the same thing argues vigorously for a plan and a strategy.”

McCain argued that the Trump administration needs a coherent strategy in Syria following the missile strikes launched in retaliation to the chemical attack.

  1. John, John, John… Their strategy is to win each news cycle. Their plan is to further enrich themselves. Everything/everyone else is simply collateral damage.

To a Republican like McCain, a strike is incomplete without collateral damage.

  3. And if anyone knows about incoherent strategies for Syria its Johnny McWar. I don’t think there’s ever been a war the good Senator didn’t want us to get into one way or another. Last I recall, arming “the rebels” was his harebrained idea. Which rebels John? Like we did with the Mujahideen in Afghanistan, that later brought us Osama Bin Laden?

Just when John learned the difference between Sunni and Shi’a, he forgot about all the other complicated relationships and factions who’ve been fighting in the Civil War. It’s true dRumpF needs some kind of plan…but this isn’t exactly the guy I’d be taking my advice from. His advice has always been “do something” or “its never enough”. That’s the kind of meaningless granularity most people can live without.

  4. Oh FFS can someone find a nursing home for gramps.
He’s on the loose again …
Using the street corner soap box, thinking everyone values his opinion …
    “That Obama … I should’ve beat him … I’ll get even…”
