Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) said in an interview aired Sunday that it was a “safe assumption” that he would again run for an elected position.

Rubio was asked on CNN’s “State of the Union” if he would ever consider running again for president or another elected position.

“Yes, I — I think that’s a safe assumption,” Rubio said. “But I don’t know where I’m going to be in two years. I mean check back in two years.”

Rubio said days after he announced that he was ending his bid for the White House that he wanted to be a “private citizen” and would not run for re-election to the Senate or be anyone’s vice president.

Presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump joined a handful of senators last week who have enoucouraged Rubio to run for reelection for his senate seat.
