President Barack Obama nominated Eric K. Fanning to be secretary of the Army on Friday, which, if confirmed by the Senate, would make him the first openly gay secretary of a U.S. military branch.
Republican presidential candidate and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee said the move was done because the President “is more interested in appeasing America’s homosexuals than honoring America’s heroes.”
“Nightly Show” host Larry Wilmore reminded Huckabee on Tuesday that hero status is not determined by sexuality.
“Mike Huckabee, you know homosexual and hero aren’t mutually exclusive terms, right?” Wilmore said. “Let me give you an example of mutually exclusive terms: Huckabee and human.”
