Donald Trump’s campaign manager, Kellyanne Conway, once suggested that “rape would not exist” if men and women had equal physical strength in comments that were resurfaced on Tuesday.

Conway, a veteran GOP pollster who joined the campaign earlier this month, made the remarks during a January 2013 appearance on PBS’ “To The Contrary.”

“If we were physiologically – not mentally, emotionally, professionally – equal to men, if we were physiologically as strong as men, rape would not exist,” Conway said. “You would be able to defend yourself and fight him off.”

According to CNN, Conway brought up the analogy unprompted during a panel discussion about women in combat roles and gender equality in the military.

The remarks were resurfaced by Democratic Coalition Against Trump, an anti-Trump super PAC.
