It appears Jon Stewart is done feeling “bad” for Rick Santorum.
Stewart wasn’t surprised by the vitriol internet commenters directed at Ted Cruz and Newt Gingrich for their tributes to the late Nelson Mandela, but there was one tribute from a “non-anonymous jerk” that left Stewart a bit vexed on Monday’s “Daily Show.”
Santorum said Thursday that Mandela’s fight against the injustice of racial segregation was like Republicans’ battle against another “great injustice” — Obamacare.
“The systemic subjugation of a race of people is different from the establishment of subsidized healthcare exchanges,” Stewart explained.
“So let the word go forth to a new generation of Americas: to wherever people gather, on whatever people read, Obamacare is not apartheid,” he added before launching into a “Sound of Music”-inspired yodel.
“If I may shout it from the hilltops: Obama-caaaaare is not apartheid.”
