Signing off before a two-week vacation, Jon Stewart extended a warm and personal thank you to presidential candidate and ex-reality TV star Donald Trump for giving him an endless stream of material.
“I wanna talk about one person who’s been there for me,” he began. “His name is Donald.”
Stewart gleefully updated his audience on the wave of businesses, from NBC Universal to the mattress company Serta, that severed ties with Trump after he repeatedly called Mexican immigrants “rapists” and “killers.”
“It is hard to get mad at Donald Trump for saying stupid things, in the same way that it’s hard to get mad at a monkey when he throws poop at you in the zoo,” Stewart continued.
But he saved his anger for Trump’s defenders, from Rep. Steve King (R-IA) and presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who accused the “the PC world of mainstream media.”
“That is such buzzword nothing bullshit!” Stewart exclaimed.
