Jon Stewart could very much believe that Congress failed to act on pressing legislation right before fleeing the Capitol for August recess.

“When you guys suck, it is not failure. It is just you living up to our extremely low expectations of you,” he said. “Congress is the ‘Sharknado 2’ of government. Of course it sucked. It was supposed to suck.”

Stewart chided members of Congress for taking a pass on issues like immigration and student loans in favor of voting to sue President Barack Obama over his perceived abuse of executive authority.

“Sure, thousands of immigrant kids are sleeping under our bridges, which, by the way, are collapsing because of the highway structures funding bills,” he mocked. “But if we go on break without suing the President, we’ll never reach Charlie Rangel-levels of relaxation on our break.”

The comedian found Republicans’ accusations of “tyranny” against the President rather amusing, too.

“We all know throughout history, the only way to depose a tyrant is via a civil lawsuit,” he quipped.
