Jon Stewart on Sunday compared CNN to the Chucky doll from the horror movie “Child’s Play.”

CNN host Fareed Zakaria asked Stewart to talk about when he turns to CNN for the news.

“When world historical things like the Green movement, the Arab Spring are happening, you turn on CNN and watch these brave correspondents?” Zakaria asked.

“Here’s what I do,” Stewart responded. “I set a Google alert for Blitzer. And then, I just wait. ‘We have a CNN exclusive tonight. The Empire State Building is blue.'”

Zakaria pressed Stewart, and said again that Stewart appreciates CNN’s “brave reporting.”

“The reason why I make fun of certain aspects of CNN is to be inspired by the brave reporting, is to want more. And so, that’s all it is,” Stewart explained.

And so Zakaria asked Stewart if he wanted more CNN.

“I want more of good CNN,” Stewart said. “CNN is very similar to the doll Chucky. Sometimes it’s good Chucky, but you really got to watch out for bad Chucky.”

  1. CNN is the worst. At least with FOX you know you’re being lied to.
When I listen to 5 or ten minutes of Hannity driving home it’s not to hear another point of view, it’s more like peeking at a bad car wreck. CNN tries to be relevant actual news and often fails a la FOX.

  2. Yes, Fareed, you’re smart enough to know that journalism is good and pundit shout-offs are an abomination.

  3. The American media has done more to degrade our society than any other public institution. There was a time when CNN was a gold standard of global journalism.

Now it’s a fear mongering punchline.

  4. That was a dumb damn question to ask Jon Stewart. He was visibly unwilling to be impolite to his host, but he was audibly unwilling to be anything but honest. CNN is a joke and a serious media critic like Stewart can’t pretend otherwise.

With the GOP take over of the media, hard pressed to not find a channel without a GOP face on it,even before the takeover.
