Secretary of State John Kerry and rapper Snoop Dogg apparently bonded over a mutual love of jazz earlier this month at the Kennedy Center Honors.
Snoop Dogg posted a video to his Instagram account late Thursday of his encounter with Kerry at what appears to be a White House reception for the awards ceremony that will air Sunday, according to CNN.
The two talked about their mutual admiration for jazz musician Herbie Hancock, whom Snoop Dogg honored with his performance at the Kennedy Center.
“He invented hip-hop, that’s why it only makes sense,” Snoop can be heard saying of Hancock. The two then fist-bumped.
“You gave me a good pound,” Kerry laughed.
The State Department’s Twitter account also shared the video along with a message signed by Kerry himself.
