Ohio Gov. John Kasich said on Sunday said that he likely would not have signed the new North Carolina law that prohibits local measures protecting LGBT individuals from discrimination, directs individuals to use the bathroom that corresponds with the sex on their birth certificate, and limits employees’ ability to sue over workplace discrimination.
During an interview on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” Kasich was asked whether he would have signed the law.
“Probably not,” he replied, later adding that while he hasn’t studied the law, he “wouldn’t have signed that law, from everything I know.”
The Republican presidential candidate said that he has not seen a debate over religious liberty in his state.
“We are not having this issue in our state about this whole religious liberty. I believe that religious institutions ought to be protected and be able to be in a position where they can live out their deeply held religious purposes. But when you get beyond that, it gets to be a tricky issue. And tricky’s not the right word, but it can become contentious issue,” he said.
“But in our state we’re not facing this. So everybody needs to take a deep breath, respect one another,” he continued “And the minute we start trying to write laws, things become more polarized, they become more complicated. Obviously I don’t want to force people to violate their deeply held religious convictions, but we’d have to see what that’s all about.”
“Why do we need to write a law every time we turn around in this country?” he later asked. “Everybody, chill out, get over it if you have a disagreement with somebody.”

The Governor is too busy depriving women of their reproductive rights to worry much about gays.
Profiles in Courage.
Gutted Planned Parenthood in his state.
“When it comes to curbing abortion access and funding for Planned
Parenthood, John Kasich has been one of the most effective leaders in
the country. The Ohio governor, however, does not like to play up
divisive social issues, particularly on the 2016 campaign trail, where
he’s preferred to paint a warm and fuzzy vision of the future of
America.”
Now that you mention it, why does government put gender on a birth certificate?
So it can discriminate?
This guy comes across as reasonable to the casual viewer. He’s the candidate HRC should be concerned with.
