Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s (R) political operation has hired Tim Miller, the executive director of the Republican-aligned opposition group America Rising, as a senior adviser.
If Bush decides to run for president in the next election cycle, Miller will likely serve as communications director. In the 2012 cycle, Miller was the top spokesman for former Utah Gov. Jon Huntman’s (R) presidential campaign.
Mller also served as a spokesman for the Republican National Committee and Sen. John McCain’s (R) presidential campaign.
America Rising has served as an aggressive, opposition research super PAC. It publicized the video clip of Rep. Bruce Braley (D-IA) scoffing at the prospect of Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) becoming chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Braley, who was the favorite early on in the Iowa Senate race, was defeated by now-Sen. Joni Ernst (R-IA).
A primary focus of America Rising has been former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, so, as The Wall Street Journal noted, Miller will be in a good position to serve on a campaign running against Clinton if she runs for president and wins the 2016 Democratic nomination.
