Hillary Clinton’s press secretary said Tuesday night that the candidate is “perfectly willing” to debate rival Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in New York.
Brian Fallon said on Bloomberg’s “With All Due Respect” that campaigns typically work with the Democratic National Committee in private to agree on a debate time. He said the Clinton campaign has offered “several” dates and locations, including some in New York.
“If they can find a mutually agreeable date in the next couple of weeks before New York, I think it could happen,” he said.
Sanders challenged Clinton to agree to a debate venue on Sunday, saying he would debate her in “New York City, upstate, wherever.” Clinton’s chief strategist Joel Benenson responded Monday by saying that Sanders should change his campaign’s “tone” if he wanted another debate.
The New York Democratic primary is April 19.
