Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton put a call out to supporters Monday to donate to a fund that benefits the children of Flint, Michigan, who have been affected by lead-contaminated drinking water.
The one-minute web video asks supporters to donate to the Community Foundation of Greater Flint’s FlintKids.org campaign. The fund will serve the longterm needs of children in Flint.
The video features Flint Mayor Karen Weaver and three area pastors. When Weaver endorsed Clinton over her rival Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), she cited Clinton’s early response to the water crisis.
Her campaign also sent out an email Sunday, according to The Detroit News, with the subject line: “Will you help the families of Flint?”
Flint switched its water supply in 2014 to save money while the city was lead by an emergency manager appointed by Gov. Rick Snyder (R).

Good for her, using her prominence to get more people to sit up and take notice of what’s happened in Flint. Next, we need to get more attention to other environmental problems afflicting other [mostly] poor people in this country.
(Yeah, cynics: I know this can also help her politically. That’s okay – If more politicians occasionally undertook socially beneficial events, even if only for good press, we’d still have a better country as a result.)
I believe that this is called Leadership (with a capital L)!
One must get up REALLY early to get ahead of this woman.
So far, we’ve had Bupkis from Bernie on this critically important issue.
He hasn’t even gone to Flint.
Good for her for doing this but I really hope the Federal government moves to recoup its costs in dealing with Flint by suing the Governor and the rest of his buds that caused this mess.
