Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on Thursday took a detour in his quest to take down Donald Trump by supporting Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) when he conceded that he thought Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) would make a better president than any Republican in the race.
Graham said that Cruz would make a “better president than Trump for damn sure” during an interview on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” But his praise didn’t go far beyond that.
“Would he make the best President? No, I don’t think so of all the people running. John Kasich wins by 11 points against Hillary, so he’s absolutely out. Nobody wants a loser like that,” Graham added with a laugh.
When asked whether Kasich would be a better president than Cruz, Graham replied, “Think so. So what’s your point?”
Graham’s recent change of heart is a far cry from what he’s said previously about Cruz, although Graham acknowledged earlier this month that he might have to rally behind Cruz in order to take down Donald Trump as the GOP nominee.
Graham once said that nominating either Trump or Cruz would mean “death” in the general election. He also called out Cruz for refusing to condemn Trump’s proposed ban on Muslims entering the United States and joked about his unpopular colleague being murdered on the Senate floor.
Remember the “Permanent Republic Majority” from a few years back?
Good times.
" But I’m still for Cruz"

Thereby sowed the seed of destruction.
“Power is a fickle mistress, easy to seduce, but even easier to lose. That’s how it works. One moment she is your closest confidant, whispering the secrets of the universe into your ear; the next, she is your vilest oppressor—and once her ears close to your plights you are well and truly screwed.”
