The delegates at the Republican National Convention officially nominated Donald Trump on Tuesday night.
The formality was made official with New York’s vote. As Trump was declared the winner, “New York, New York,” in honor of his home state, played at the RNC in Cleveland.
Trump’s children officially declared their father the nominee and the crowd erupted in chants of, “Trump, Trump, Trump!”
The crowd was given some time to adjust to the news and dance along to the music before the convention moved on to hearing Puerto Rico’s vote.
Trump tweeted that it was a “great honor” to be the Republican nominee:
Such a great honor to be the Republican Nominee for President of the United States. I will work hard and never let you down! AMERICA FIRST!
