Jaxine Bubis, one of the Colorado Republicans looking to face off against state Senate President John Morse (D) this fall, wrote an erotic novel published in 2004 under a pseudonym, according to The Denver Post.

In a statement to the Post sent Thursday, Bubis acknowledged writing a novel called “Beantown Heat,” published by eXtasy Books, under the pen name Jaxine Daniels.

“Ten years ago, as a stay-at-home mother who was helping to contribute to support our family, I took creative writing classes,” she said in the statement. “One project that resulted from those creative writing classes was a fiction romance novel. The novel had very limited publication (less than 50 copies) and I took it off the market as soon I contractually could, which was around eight years ago.”

According to the Post, Bubis has received endorsements from Rocky Mountain Gun Owners and some of the state’s most conservative lawmakers. Morse faces a recall effort over his role in Colorado’s new gun laws.
