Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump insisted in an interview aired Sunday that he “didn’t go wild” for refusing to attend Fox News’ Republican debate last week.

Trump refused to participate in the Fox debate after the network released a statement in response to Trump criticizing moderator Megyn Kelly. Trump instead held his own campaign event to raise money for veterans.

Trump said Fox treated him badly, but that the network was nice to him in conversations before his event took place.

“I mean, I was treated very, very badly by Fox. They issued a statement
that was an inappropriate statement,” Trump said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “Now, what happened is, since then, they’ve been very nice. And they tried very much to get me to do the debate.”

CBS host John Dickerson interrupted Trump and noted that it was a press release.

“I didn’t go wild,” Trump said.
