As he prepares to leave the newspaper that’s employed him since 2009, Ezra Klein is drawing commendation from the guy who ran President Obama’s re-election campaign.
Jim Messina, Obama’s 2012 campaign manager, sent a tweet on Wednesday morning praising Klein for providing the “the best & deepest coverage” of the effort to pass the Affordable Care Act. Messina also called Klein’s announced departure from the Washington Post a “[b]ig loss” for the paper.
Big loss for WaPo. @ezraklein provided the best & deepest coverage of the fight to pass ACA.

A White House adviser said last year that Obama is a fan of Klein’s work. The policy wonk has also been invited to the White House for off-the-record meetings with Obama.
Klein is leaving the Post to pursue his own media venture.
