Eric Trump on Tuesday morning defended his dad from criticism over the Republican nominee’s repeated attacks on the parents of a deceased Muslim American soldier.
When asked on CBS’ “This Morning” if the Trump campaign thinks Khizr and Ghazala Khan deserve an apology, Eric Trump said that his dad called their son “a hero on so many different occasions.”
When asked again if Donald Trump will apologize, Eric Trump replied, “I think that’s a great question for him, and I think he has by calling them a hero.”
In a statement from the Trump campaign released Saturday night, Donald Trump did say, “Captain Humayun Khan was a hero to our country.” But the candidate did not apologize and quickly pivoted to talking about terrorism in the statement.
When asked on CBS if his father is capable of apologizing, Eric Trump called his dad “a fighter” who was “attacked viciously.” And Eric Trump dismissed the controversy.
“I think this is something that was honestly blown hugely out of proportion,” he said.
Earlier in the interview, Eric Trump said that his father’s comments on the Khan family were not about Humayun Khan, who “made ultimate sacrifice.”
“It’s not about a soldier, who’s an amazing guy,” he said. “This is about a big problem that we have around the world, and that’s radical terror.”
“It’s not an anti-Muslim message, it’s an anti-terror message,” Eric Trump added about his dad’s campaign message.

Dear Eric the Weasel,
Uh, no he didn’t.
Daddy Donnie is physically incapable of an apology. It is a human trait.
The Trump family has, at best, a nodding acquaintance with the English language.
Trump:
Eric…
Say again??
Until the Khans verify, it’s more Trump smoke and mirrors.
It sort of makes me miss the Romney boys…at least they knew what they were talking about.
