The satirical news site The Onion channeled the voice of Republican real estate mogul Donald Trump on Tuesday for a fake op-ed that spoke to the simple truth of his presidential campaign: try as you might, you can’t look away from me.

“The thing is, I’ve got all of you eating out of my hand and I haven’t even released a single campaign commercial yet,” the fake Trump wrote in the op-ed. “Don’t look me in the eye and tell me you don’t want to stick around and see what that looks like, because you and I both know these ads are going to be absolutely incredible.”

The piece addressed the fascination with Trump’s wild comments and the widespread interest in the pitch that he has given so far to win the Republican nomination.

Trump has been in the spotlight for his comments on immigrants and feuds with fellow Republicans.

“I can tell you’re practically salivating right now. And I’m going to keep riding this fascination, this little fixation you have with me as far as you’ll take me. You know I will,” the op-ed said.

In real life, Trump was leading in the most recent Washington Post/ABC News poll. Only the top 10 leading candidates will participate in the first GOP presidential debate later this year.

The Onion’s op-ed explained the best is yet to come.

“Just take a moment and imagine the primary debates: Jeb Bush; Chris Christie; me. Of course, they’ll put me in the middle because I’m ahead in the polls — far ahead at the moment.”
