Scandal-plagued Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has not received drug or alcohol treatment after admitting that he smoked crack cocaine during what he called one of his “drunken stupors.”

The mayor told “Today” host Matt Lauer that he has a “weight issue” he was training for every day, but was not receiving other treatment. If he has been impaired on the job, Ford said, it was an isolated incident.

“I’m very fortunate that hasn’t happened,” he said when Lauer asked if he thought he was equipped to handle a city emergency. “But that could happen with anybody at any time. Say you had gone out drinking or you’re a drunk, and say something happened to your family.”

Ford was stripped of some his powers Monday in a Toronto City Council meeting, where he inadvertently bowled over a female councillor and warned legislators that their attempts to curb his authority were equivalent to attacking Kuwait.

But the mayor told Lauer he wasn’t going anywhere.

“They’re not going to find another Rob Ford,” he said.
