Comedian Lewis Black returned to “The Daily Show” on Tuesday night to remind us that even Osama bin Laden believed in climate change.

In documents released in early March, it was revealed bin Laden thought climate change could be “catastrophic” to the world—a position similar to President Barack Obama, which Fox News quickly pointed out.

“Of course, bin Laden and Obama were friends. That’s why Obama hunted him down, shot him in the face and then dumped his corpse in the ocean. You know, friend stuff,” Black said. “Listen you numbnuts, just because bin Laden and Obama both want to stop climate change, that doesn’t make them buddies. Guess what, I’m a fucking painter, but that doesn’t make me friends with Hitler.”

The documents also asked for his remaining millions stashed in Sudan to be spent on funding terrorism.

“Sorry, bin Laden, you might be a feared terrorist, but no grandkids spend their inheritance money how you want them to,” Black said.

They’ll probably buy something dumb, like a hoverboard, he said.

“Although, I do respect a man who asks his grandkids to kill themselves. I didn’t know you could do that in a will,” Lewis added.

I read about Bin Laden’s concern about climate change recently, and found it interesting and surprising. Muslim extremists are often depicted as a death cult who are nihilistic about this world, because the next one is the important one. The fact that he worried about the physical state of the planet, rather than simply the spiritual state seems rather unexpected.

  5. Lewis Black is just too good and far too under-rated. Brilliant rant!
