Stephen Colbert declared on Wednesday’s “The Colbert Report” that this particular “hump day” was a “dark, dark day for cultural conservatives.”
“God decreed in the Bible that hump day is between one man and one woman,” Colbert said. “Now it’s anything goes.”
Colbert lamented that the Supreme Court decided not to hear the seven same-sex marriage cases before it, which means that now more than half of all Americans live in a state where same-sex marriage is legal.
“I feel like the last man on Earth who opposes man-man marriage,” Colbert said. “Besides the sanctity of traditional marriage is not some fad. You can’t pray away your gay. Well, you can’t gay away my pray. For Christians like me this is a civil rights issue in that I don’t like gay people are getting civil rights.”
Colbert predicted that “these gay marriage cases will inevitably lead to a civil war” and then announced his aptly titled upcoming documentary: “The Gay Civil War.”

Sorry Stephen , God did not write the Bible , men did . The Bible has nothing to do with God/Jesus .
Even if Stephen, as a Catholic, does believe that God wrote the Bible, the real Colbert (not the persona) tends to be liberal and fairly LGB-friendly. He still has a lot to learn about trans people. I thought it was a brilliant segment about how silly and stupid the Right’s freakout over the non-rulings was.
"Colbert predicted that “these gay marriage cases will inevitably lead to a civil war” and then announced his aptly titled upcoming documentary: “The Gay Civil War.”
But of course, among bigots, it will be known as the “War of Homo Aggression.”
Colbert: Skewering at its finest!
Perhaps you are unaware of this, but it’s satire. Stephen Colbert the character is a reactionary blowhard who doesn’t let things like facts and truth get in the way of his opinions; in contrast, Stephen Colbert the man is quite liberal and intelligent.
