Hours after the NBA slapped their owner with a lifetime ban, the Los Angeles Clippers were greeted with a raucous ovation by their home crowd on Tuesday.
A crowd of more than 19,000 — many clad in black shirts — turned out to watch the Clippers take on the Golden State Warriors in their first round playoff series.
Chants of “we are one” rang out throughout the Staples Center on a day that saw Clippers owner Donald Sterling punished by the league for making racist remarks to his girlfriend.
The Clippers ended up winning their game 113-103.
yawn, clippers suck.
Go Wiz
I lived in LA for 15 years; the city is outstanding in many ways.
The most astonishing thing about LA is its diversity; as an example, there are 40 nationalities for which the largest population outside the home country is in LA. UCLA has students from about 130 different countries. And to a very large extent, it just works – people take pride in their communities.
This whole Sterling fiasco is the antithesis of the LA culture. I would have loved to have been at that game last night; whoever came up with “We are one!” is exactly right.
I kinda like Bill Maher’s take on this matter.
He expressed it on Chris Hayes.
