Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said in an interview with the CNN Thursday that the scene at Nevada’s Democratic convention last weekend was “disturbing.”
Asked by CNN’s Chris Cuomo about Sen. Bernie Sanders response to what happened at the convention, Clinton said, “I have every confidence we’re going to be unified.”
Sanders supporters disrupted the convention multiple times Saturday — even booing Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-CA), a Clinton supporter, off stage. They believed that the state Democratic Party was shutting them out of the process. The Nevada state Democratic Party chair received a number of threatening voice mails and text messages, reportedly from Sanders supporters outraged by how she handled the proceedings.
The Sanders campaign has said it condemns any violence and threats in general, but called the reports of violence at Saturday’s convention overblown.
Hillary’s rare gaffes stand out only because she usually sounds just the right tone, as here. No criticism of Sanders, being disturbed by what happened rather than who did it, and reassuring all that the Democrats will be united when it matters. Spot on.
“Ruckus”?
Well, that makes it sound just plain fun!
What a classy, presidential response.
Can someone check in with Jeff Weaver to see if Clinton has the right to feel disturbed?
No disagreement here with what she said in response to questions being asked of her, but the less said by her or her campaign, the better. And don’t sic the Big Dog to come out on this matter either. It’s clear enough for most people to see without her adding any comments that will redound back on her later by potential Bernie supporters, after the dust has settled. She still needs many of the Bernie’s folks to come out and vote for her, and many will, but alienating them when they are in a heat of passion or their last throes at this time, is not necessary. Even they can see the bad press they’re getting and probably see the writing on the wall…Either that, or they are blind.
