It was not immediately clear why the campus was placed on lockdown.
CCSU’s website currently reads:
“Central Connecticut State University – Campus Emergency Get inside buildings & Stay in place! Stay away from Windows. Police are on the Scene.”
Update: Authorities have “contained” a suspect and are talking “with a man boxed into a dorm room in James Hall,” per the Courant.
Late update: Officials were seen leading a man in handcuffs away from the university on Monday, several hours after reports that a man with a gun was spotten on campus.
Later update:
The sounds that you just heard was campus police indicating that the campus is ALL CLEAR #ccsu. You may now leave the buildings.
