Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Conn. issued a campus emergency alert Monday asking students to seek shelter and lock and close windows, the Hartford Courant reported.

It was not immediately clear why the campus was placed on lockdown.

CCSU’s website currently reads:

“Central Connecticut State University – Campus Emergency Get inside buildings & Stay in place! Stay away from Windows. Police are on the Scene.”

Update: Authorities have “contained” a suspect and are talking “with a man boxed into a dorm room in James Hall,” per the Courant.

Late update: Officials were seen leading a man in handcuffs away from the university on Monday, several hours after reports that a man with a gun was spotten on campus.
