Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) said Thursday that the House recess for the week of Sept. 23 may be canceled as important deadlines loom to keep the government funded and avert a debt default.
“Members are advised that pending ongoing discussions on the continuing resolution, the House may need to be in session during the week of September 23 and possibly into the weekend,” he said on the floor. “Members should expect an announcement next week regarding when the House would meet during the week of September 23. This is a change from the previously announced schedule.”
