WASHINGTON — After Donald Trump’s election, Jo-Anne Priel helped organize a group of seven women from Ontario, Canada to join the Women’s March in Washington, D.C.

The seven women hopped in a van on Friday and drove down, arriving in the D.C. area late Friday night.

Given the close ties between the United States and Canada, Priel and her friends are concerned about how Trump’s presidency could impact them and their country.

“We’re scared. We’re disgusted. We’re angry,” Priel told TPM. “We’re actually worried that the same shit will spread to our country. And so it’s time for us to stand up and say this is not right.”

Priel said she was especially disturbed by Trump’s rhetoric about women.

“Who says that about women?” She asked. “It’s disgusting.”

She is also concerned about how Trump’s views on trade could impact the Canadian economy, noting that a lot of U.S. businesses employ people in Canada.

“People are definitely worried about their jobs and their livelihood, and what it will do to our economic relationships,” she told TPM.

“We’re also concerned that if he goes into some war, it will drag all of us into it,” Priel added. “We’re neighbors. It’s like a ship.”

Priel said that if the United States moves, “we go with you.”

“And we don’t want to go where you’re going,” Priel said.
