Breitbart reporter Matthew Boyle claims that he was thrown out of a Wednesday campaign event for Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) in New Hampshire.
Boyle wrote that he signed in at the event, identifying himself as a reporter and wearing his press badge.
But after Boyle went to the back of the room at the direction of a Shaheen staffer, the owner of business where the event was held came over and said that “this was a private event and you’re not welcome here,” according to Boyle.
“I’m a congressionally credentialed Capitol Hill reporter, credentialed by the U.S. Senate press gallery,” Boyle said in response, but the owner still asked him to leave.
According to Boyle, the event was open to the press, and other journalists, including NECN’s Katherine Underwood, were allowed to stay for the event.
Underwood confirmed to TPM that she was indeed allowed at the event.
Shaheen’s campaign did not immediately respond to TPM’s request for comment.
