An attorney for Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, said in a statement Wednesday that “there are multiple witnesses” who should be included in the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

“The Committee’s stated plan to move forward with a hearing that has only two witnesses is not a fair or good faith investigation; there are multiple witnesses whose names have appeared publicly and should be included in any proceeding,” Blasey Ford’s attorney Lisa Banks said, as quoted by the Washington Post. “The rush to a hearing is unnecessary, and contrary to the Committee discovering the truth.”

The statement did not specify whether Blasey Ford would appear in the hearing scheduled for Monday, the Post noted.

It’s unclear which specific “witnesses whose names have appeared publicly” the statement was referring to. Cristina Miranda King wrote in a later-deleted Facebook post that, while Blasey Ford was “was a year or so behind me,” in their high school, “I remember her. This incident did happen.”

Miranda King’s post added: “Many of us heard a buzz about it indirectly with few specific details.”

In a letter to Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats earlier Wednesday, which was obtained by TPM, committee Chairman Chuck Grassley said Republican committee staffers had sought interviews with two other unnamed “alleged witnesses,” in addition to Blasey Ford, Kavanaugh, and Mark Judge, the latter of whom Ford alleges was in the room during the alleged assault.

CNN’s MJ Lee obtained Banks’ full statement:

  1. Yes including Cristina King Miranda, who NBC reports claims to have heard talk in school about the incident between Kavanaugh and Blasey. I’m surprised TPM doesn’t have a story up about this. No it’s not totally confirmed yet and King Miranda is a very reluctant witness. But this will sink Kavanaugh if it’s true.

  2. “The rush to a hearing is unnecessary, and contrary to the Committee discovering the truth.”

Pretty sure that’s the whole goal.

  3. Grassley and his buddies are in a bad spot right now and by their own hands. I am not sure if they are even aware of it. They had better hope the next two days or so play out the way they want. They have set up a moment in which another shoe dropping would be devastating.

  4. Their “reasons” are absurd and everyone knows it. I hope everyone is putting immense pressure on them. BTW, you can send a free FAX to any senator at:

It won’t be read but it will pile up …

Fight for time - yes … but above all else, take your best shot … if there are witnesses -use any means necessary to vault them on to center stage … have them ready to spill their guts 24/7 in every forum imaginable - go for the jugular… if there is are women who are now compelled by their conscience to stand up and recount the time that a drunk Kavanaugh forcibly made them provide him with oral sex - get it on 60 minutes or Face the Nation … this Sunday…
