After comedian Bill Cosby responded with silence on Saturday to a question about sexual assault allegations made against him, his lawyer said that Cosby will not be commenting on the accusations.

“Over the last several weeks, decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced. The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby does not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment,” Cosby’s lawyer, John P. Schmitt, said in a Sunday statement.

The sexual assault allegations against Cosby resurfaced this week after comedian Hannibal Buress called Cosby a rapist during a comedy sketch last month and the video went viral.

  1. It’s a bitch when your past jumps up and bites you in the ass. Cosby’s deer-in-the-headlights reaction was undoubtedly on orders from his attorney. He’s made his bed, now he can lie in it (no pun intended). I’d hate to be Bill Cosby now.

  2. More probable explanation: Gag order on the out of court settlement. If Cosby talks, the settlement is out in the open again.

  3. Exactly my thinking, and too bad that there couldn’t be a statement from Cosby or his lawyer to that effect. It might have taken the edge off this news cycle’s spin-dry of old skeletons.

  4. Ummm, in such a settlement the gag order is generally on the alleged victim. Look at Bill O’s loofa lady. She got paid big bucks, and now can’t talk. So in this case, this lady is probably looking for more money. Cosby is smart to ignore the shakedown.

Yah, there was another article here where one character was whining about Cosby’s not being accountable for his actions by fessing up to the allegations. When I pointed out that Cosby had just recently done this in a recently released book this character then ranted that this was simply Cosby’s version of events. At that point I saw that I wasting my time.

I saw the interview on OPB and wondered what good the interviewer sought by bringing this up in an interview about the Cosby’s art collection.

I’m surprised the woman herself is talking about this after the settlement. If there was a gag order she’s the one breaking it.

And actually the women bringing this up have never sued and consequently settled. I was referring to the young lady who tried to extort money by claiming she was Cosby’s love child. I got her mixed up with another headline in close proximity to her picture.

So there is no gag order on any party here.
