An Alabama congressional candidate is laughing off a video of him describing his political views while sitting on the toilet that surfaced this week.

Erick Wright, a Democrat who is challenging Rep. Martha Roby (R-AL), deleted a video he titled “Politics On The Throne” from YouTube when he decided to run for office. Yellowhammer News published a copy of his “lecture from the latrine” on Monday.

In the two-minute video, Wright ponders if government intrusion ultimately comes from the federal or state government. He name-drops gun rights activist Ted Nugent and Fox News and runs through topics from abortion to homosexuality.

The Democratic candidate told the Dothan Eagle, a local newspaper, on Wednesday that he thought the video was posted in 2012 or early 2013. He added that he never intended for it to be seen by a wide audience, although he found its reception “entertaining.”

“I posted because most people that are millennials don’t listen to the (mainstream) political rhetoric, and that was my way of reaching some of them, to let them know I am a regular person,” he said. “I posted that for them and that was a number of years ago.”
